Be Good Tanyas have been nominated for a Juno award. The awards show takes place April 1st. It just seems like the perfect time for a prankster to come out. "..and the award goes to... Oh, we're just kidding, you didn't REALLY win."
Yes we do celebrate April Fools here north of the border, and the fact that the Juno's fall on that date seems quite appropriate as the awards show usually is a complete joke. With Nickelback, Michael Buble and Canadian Idol contestants usually up for awards it must be a gag, eh.
Thanks Steve! Oh, you have that "Idol" series there too? This morning we watched a 3 minute "news brief" about the show while waiting for a traffic report. Gag, eh seems accurate. But are the Junos granted cred IF someone like The Be Good Tanyas win an award?
I would give them props if any decent artists were up for any of the major awards but the Be Good Tanya's winning in the Roots & Traditional Album Of The Year: Group award just won't do it for me. Fingers crossed today's song of the day artist Malajube wins for both best alternative artist of the year and best Francophone Album. Cheers to the Current for supporting great tuneage from the great white north.
Oops, there was a slight mix up with our Song of the day. Have no fear, Malajube still have our support and will be featured tomorrow! Make sure you go grab the !!! tune!
