You'd think he'd have his hands full running Merge Records and scattered Portastatic dates. But Mac McCaughan finds time to blog. I found this entry particularly entertaining.

Today on our Song Of The Day Podcast we're featuring Peter Bjorn & John, with "Young Folks" from their full length, Writer's Block. They'll be kicking off our SxSW broadcast tomorrow! See them on Carson Daly tonight. As there is always a balance, I have heard so many people going on and on about this band and this tune. There has to be a negative, right? This is it, a hate blog. I'm hoping it will all work out as good attention in the end. Learn more about the band on their official site.
9:30am
I've heard each of these bands compared to Joy Division and to each other. Do you think they compliment each other? The Editors tune was recorded during an in-studio appearance last year. Interpol have announced details about their latest effort. ANd the Norweigan band 120 days are coming stateside next week.
9:20am
Wilco's new album Sky Blue Sky will be in stores on May 15th. We just played the track "What Light". See the video here.
9:10am
Low's new release Drums and Guns wil be released on Sub Pop next Tuesday. They've announced a few dates on their official site including an appearance at First Avenue on Saturday April 14th.
So... regarding the anti-PB&J thing... what's the point of putting so much energy into hating a band or any person/group creating anything. just seems really stupid to me. Example, I hate Cake so I don't listen to them. good enough, right? I mean, if it's just to be funny aren't there more hate-able bands out there? Like maybe Skrewdriver or Creed or something? I love that Peter Bjorn & John record, by the way... but I would still be writing this comment even if the anti-blog was anti, say, Cake....
I agree wholeheartedly. Life is far too short for hatred. I hope it's all a farce to drum up more positive attention for the band. If not, I feel that by telling people about it, they can "counter-protest".
