I'm in Love with that Song!

Posted at 4:59 PM on March 6, 2007 by Danny Sigelman (4 Comments)

I am at a coffee shop right now and the woman behind the counter has played Peter Bjorn and John "Young Folks" no fewer than four times in a row and counting. Not surprisingly, no one seems to mind.

When the Fog song "Pneumonia" initially came out as a 12" in '02 I remember having never heard any other song like it. I was completely in love with it and had my turntable set on repeat for a good hour or two. It was very much like when Enid in that movie Ghost World falls for that old blues record.

What are some other stick-it-on-repeat-and-pull-off-the-knob tunes that have stuck with you again and again and again?

I've got so many of them.. Pnuemonia was one of them.. those turntable beats mixed with that acoustic guitar... other recent ones have been Since You Been Gone by Kelly Clarkson (seriously), Strongest Man In The World by Menomena, Phone Went West and Steam Engine by My Morning Jacket and Teenager by the Deftones

"Intervention"!

Arcade Fire's "Crown of Love" is literally worn out on my copy of the disc. And I'm right there with you on Phoenix. "If I Ever Feel Better" was my personal positive jam for so long. I got stuck on Califone's "Michigan Girls" for, like, a year. My repeat-play songs change as frequently and last about as long as most crushes
(thanks for the cool link, Sanden.) But I've been keeping track of them for the one big dorky day when I compile my Top 100 Tracks Ever list.
