"Song for Red," March 17, 2007

Tonight's SFR is "2 Much Time On My Hands." No, not them! Local rockers Vicious Vicious are the inspiration for this week's song.

Red's in the first grade and learning how to tell time so we decided to get a clock for her room. I'm beginning to think that was a big mistake. While I'm thrilled that's she's learning about the concept of time, I'm less than enthusiastic about it when she comes into our room at 6:45 in the morning to tell me what time it is.

She crawls into bed with us and I've instructed her not to turn the television on until at least 7:30. She's got too much time on her hands. For the next half hour she dutifully and sweetly whispers in my ear every two minutes, "Daddy, it's 7:11." "Dad, it's 7:13." Daaaaaaadeeeeeeee, it's 7:15." You get the picture.

I propose, from now on, that children must learn how to tell time the old-fashioned way. That'll teach'em.

I remember hearing about the making of this video and thanks to the folks at Northeast Beat there is a video history of it now.

I remember when this was made and they were asking for fans to be extras at the Cafe that day. For whatever reason I couldn't make it down for the video shoot. Though that is just as well as it appears I would've probably ended up being abducted by an alien.

Though if it'd been with Tanya perhaps that wouldn't of been such a bad thing!
