A sadly sweet set today from Brandon of St. Paul. He said, "I'm requesting these songs because I just had a very hard break-up with a girl of many years. It was somewhat mutual, but it still sucks." Got yer back, Brandon.
1) Sufjan Stevens, "For All the Widows In Paradise"
2) Wilco, "I Am Trying To Break Your Heart"
3) Ryan Adams, "La Cienega Just Smiled"

If you haven't heard, The Current is bringing the South By Southwest Music Confrence to you with a 2 day live broadcast from Buffalo Billiards on 6th St. in Austin, TX! We'll be broadcasting live from 11am-6pm Thursday 3/15 and Friday 3/16 with performances by Andrew Bird (w/ Dosh), Sondre Lerche, Tom Morello aka The Nightwatchman, Peter Bjorn and John, Money Mark, EL-P, RJD2, Antibalas, Brother Ali, Bonde Do Role, Fujiya & Miyagi, The Young Knives, The Sights, Mando Diao, and Jamie T!
I'm happy to add Prototypes now to our list of scheduled performances at our SXSW broadcast! We've been playing Prototypes for awhile now, but maybe you're not as familiar with them?
Prototypes are a French trio that formed back in 2003. Part new wave, part garage rock, part folk rock with edgy guitars and sharp syths, Prototypes have redefined nouvelle vague having already achieved a top 10 hit in France and landing a coveted Ipod commercial here in the US with their song "Who's Gonna Sing?" Lead Singer Isabelle Le Doussal has been compared to the likes of Karen O and Blondie with her explosive compelling vocals. They should put on quite a show for us!
Prototypes will be performing live from Buffalo Billards in Austin, TX on Thursday 3/15 at 11:45am. You can listen to them live on the web here. Or if you'll be in Austin for SXSW you can find updated info about their performance as well as our others here.
Jamie T is also still scheduled perform at our live broadcast. Thankfully, he rescheduled to Friday 3/16 at 5pm! I'm especially looking forward to having Jamie T! I can't get enough of this bloke's cheeky swagger and banter. He'll have us all screaming out "London"! Check him out here with Jamie T's new video for his song "Sheila". I love the monkeys!
Who are you looking forward to hearing perform at our broadcast?

I hope I don't get in trouble for this, but I couldn't help it. I'm just too excited about tomorrow's Song of the Day. I won't tell you what it is, but I will say it has whistling. And while it's no jaw-dropping Andrew-Bird-type-whistling, it's some of the most infectious whistling since The Andy Griffith Show theme song. It's what our Marketing Manager, Ali Lozoff, calls an "earworm," except this earworm is more like a tapeworm for me. It's feeding off my innards and has started telling me what to do. Lately, it's been telling me to soak up some sunshine and be happy, damnit. It's also been telling me to listen to the Current's live broadcast from SXSW--which I was gonna do anyway. Geez, I don't need a tapeworm to tell me that.
