Better Than a Cruise Missile

Posted at 8:51 AM on March 5, 2007 by Dale Connelly (2 Comments)

This just in: Disney can chase you around their theme parks with new audio animatronic characters than can be controlled "from thousands of miles away".
How long before the CIA recruits Imagineers to create a lifelike Whitney Houston to lure Osama Bin Laden out of his cave?
Or would the wheels make him suspicious?

Noon-ish
The View. Are they the new "Bad Boys" of the UK scene? They've had a run in or two with "the law" recently. But should we expect that the lead singer is suddenly going to turn into Pete Doherty? I guess for now it's wait-and-see. In the meantime, they just refreshed their Youtube page.

Tunes On The Telly Tonight:
Solomon Burke on Leno
Alexi Murdoch on Carson Daly

My 3 Songs for Monday, 3/5/07

Haley Swope of St. Paul likes the British indie. Her set today bounced along with the best of it:

1) Patrick Wolf, "The Magic Position"
2) The Libertines, "Time For Heroes"
3) Guillemots, "Trains to Brazil"

Thanks Annie! I hadn't heard of Patrick Wolf before you suggested this set. And I'm always thrilled to know when somebody is into Guillemots.

"Sabbath" tour Dates!

Posted at 4:28 PM on March 5, 2007 by Danny Sigelman (4 Comments)

As if last week's amazing Wolfmother show at the(much to be desired) Myth Nightclub(my waitress had never heard of PBR before?!) wasn't enough I am just giddy to see today's announced Heaven and Hell tour dates. The tour will be bringing the evil to the Target Center May 6.

This is the reunion of the Dio-era Black Sabbath that put out a few ridiculously dark and strange records in the early 80's. Ozzy's best lady won't let them tour as Black Sabbath, of course, so it's appropriate they would go by the name of the first record created by this version of the band.

I never got to see Dio or Sabbath in my metal days of youth so I am look forward to this one.

I often wonder how after over 20 years of listening to this music I am not a total satan-obsessed, lunatic, violent, worshipper of the dark side like everyone warned we'd become back then?

Maybe I still have all that to look forward?

Anyone else stoked that Bad Brains have made a new record with Adam Yauch producing..
Legend has it that back in the day they "played" at Goofy's Upper Deck in MPLS and H.R just stretched the mic chord into the dressing room and sang from back there.
