Icky Thump

Posted at 6:58 AM on March 2, 2007 by Mac Wilson (6 Comments)

A few weeks ago, after playing a White Stripes song, I ruminated on the air about how any day, the band could make an announcement that they had banged out an album and would be releasing it within mere months. Hooray! It looks like this spring will bring us the next White Stripes record, bizarrely titled Icky Thump. They always seemed like something from a Tim Burton film, so the title makes perfect sense to me. One of those things we can count on, I suppose: in odd-numbered years, the White Stripes will release an album.

My 3 Songs for Friday, 3/2/07

A very, very cool set today, with a surreal -- maybe even Dada-ist -- explanation ... from Marlin Cappelpop Anderson (?!).

1) The Meters: "Look-Ka Py Py"
2) Brian Eno, "Needles In the Camel's Eye"
3) Television, "Venus"

Why are you requesting these songs? Marlin answered:

"I can't find my shoes."

Thanks for the absurdist-theater (and killer tunes) on a Friday, Marlin. Or whoever you are.
