What's your favorite ELO song?

Posted at 3:20 PM on February 15, 2007 by Ali Lozoff (16 Comments)

Come on, you all have one....

ELnO will be playing our fabulous listener appreciation party on the 27th. (Details here) They are taking requests for the set list, so let's hear it. What do you want to hear as you shake your disco-loving groove thang at the Varsity Theater? I've already put in for "Turn to Stone". And "Xanadu" is (hopefully) a given.... so what else?

Strange Magic, Telephone Line, Don't Bring Me Down

Do Ya...which was also done by Jeff Lynne's first band, The Move.

If the Move are fair game, I'll put in a request for "Feel Too Good", along with "Livin' Thing". (can you tell Boogie Nights is my favorite movie?)

What, no "Mr. Blue Sky?" Especially this time of year!   : )

I'm sure it's not cool to hit up the new stuff, but I like "A Long Time Gone" off Zoom.

My Favorites are definitely "Mr. Blue Sky", "Evil Woman", and "Don't Bring Me Down".

Just saw an old trailer for "Xanadu." Gene Kelly on roller skates! Be still my heart! ; )

I want California Man originally done by the Move, artfully covered by Cheap Trick.

Evil Woman! And Telephone Line and Strange Magic.

I used to mishear the lyrics to Evil Woman as Medieval Woman..

I thought, what a strange thing to sing about..

I forgot Sweet Talkin' Woman

Don't Bring Me Down

Just for some variety here, how 'bout Can't Get it Out Of My Head, Fire On High, Jungle, Steppin' Out, Nightrider, Rockaria

My request is for "Boy Blue" and "Sweet is the Night." For every ELO hit there were always a dozen great b-sides; here are two of them.

Oh, and another thing: I double-dawg-dare ELnO to play "Fire On High." That would be too cool for words.

I am a huge ELO nerd as well as E.L.No.'s manager (although I never actually do any work, nor do they ever pay me). My favorite ELO songs are probably "Shine a Little Light" and "Last Train to London" (I love the ELO disco period), "Eldorado" and "Jungle" (a fairly obscure album track that you can find on the newly reissued "Out of the Blue").
