Return to Work, Proceed to Step In It

Okay, perhaps it wasn't the most judicious choice, after a week off, to begin my return to the airwaves this afternoon by being critical of the entire state of Florida. My intent was to say something akin to, "Yes I went to Florida, and yes, it's warm there and frigidly cold here, but I'm thrilled to be home because the Twin Cities is an amazing, exciting, wonderful place to live." That probably would have been more karmically productive than the negative way I worded it.

For the record, I really was talking about the thing we have that many places don't: one of the coolest, most satisfying, diverse, alive, and healthy music and arts scenes in the country, and how our current brutally punishing cold conditions (and our inclination to sometimes be envious of different ones) can sometimes make us wish for a life elsewhere. My true message: take heart, fellow Minnesotans. Our life here is one to be treasured.

I absolutely agree and understand what you meant Steve. I moved back here this past October after having spent the summer working in Wyoming, the STATE. Sheesh! I don't know how I made it without the Current those five months, except that I had to, but that was absolutely the thing I missed most-good, diversified, great MUSIC! The only radio station beside NPR out there was this station that the local deli owner put out that literally sounded like he had a microphone up to his stereo as he played his favorite showtunes. Sheesh!
I'll never forget crossing the Iowa border on my way home, with radio tuned to 89.3 and hearing the Current again. Brought tears to my eyes!

[Patting Seel's arm]. There there, dear. It wasn't that bad. Really. Just a tad bit... awkward. The Floridians can just move back down south if they don't like it.

I've been to Florida. Worst driving EVER. Nice place to visit, wouldn't wanna live there.
