Dramamine recommended

When I quit smoking, my sense of smell returned with a vengeance. Suddenly, the coffee aisle at Rainbow was a sensory overload (albeit a pleasant one).

I haven't quit anything else lately, so I'm not sure what's making my sense of hearing overly sensitive today. It probably has more to do with atmospheric pressure - maybe an arctic clipper moving through the Midwest - that’s causing the sounds in my earphones to make me feel disoriented.

Specifically, it’s stereo left-to-right panning that’s giving me troubles. DJ Barb Abney played the Earlies “Burn the Liars” this morning, and I started to feel a little queasy. Stereo panning is a very powerful trick—it really draws attention to a song’s production and should be used sparingly, like Flash animation on Web sites. Maybe songs should come with warnings, like Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love” should caution: “Motion sickness may result from listening to this song. Dramamine recommended.”

What do you think of songs that use left-to-right panning effects? Any favorites? Intense dislikes?

And Led Zeppelin too, as Christina mentioned, especially "What Is and What Should Never Be". But moving past '70s classic rock, the Fiery Furnaces have that effect at the beginning of "Single Again". If I ever think I'm having trouble with either of the channels on my stereo or headphones, that's the song I use to test it out.

Google Stillstand? Seit gut einer Woche taucht kein einziger Artikel, den wir schreiben, in den Index aufgenommen. Hat jemand ahnliche Erfahrungen? Normalerweise dauert das nur 1-2 Tage bis Google die Artikel im Index auffuhrt. Gehts es anderen auch so?
