Do you know who James Garner is?

I heard DJ Bill DeVille play music today from the local band The Rockford Mules, and it was the second James Garner reference I've come across in the past two days (the second was in a book by a reporter on interviewing).

Sometimes I can't resist turning coincidences into signs of karma and magic. Is James Garner a sign of magic? What does it all mean? Do you even know who he is? I was really little when he was the prime time star of the Rockford Files.

The Rockford Mules (getting back to music) are playing a few shows around town soon. They evoke southern-fried rock and feature a lap steel guitar. Have you seen them perform? What's the review? What do you think of lap steel guitar?

Christina - Weird, here comes reference #3. This was in the City Pages the week of the 10th. Must be a little James Garner in the air...

Saw the Rockford Mules last spring--and they were superb. The show was at the Suburban World, not the best fit for them--the theater was too clean.

Reminded me a lot of the Black Keys, in a good way.

I heard them on the Local Show w/ Chris Roberts a few months ago. I enjoyed them very much. I agree w/ Brett, kind of Black Keys like..esque.. sortof kindof in that kind of way...
