  • The norsemen are coming! The norsemen!

  • Macy Gray almost got thrown in the clink in Barbados—for using foul language.

  • The Decemberists are clearing out the garage and selling a bunch of junk on eBay. For charity, of course.

  • Elvis is alive and well and living as a robot.

  • Crazy buzz around this band: Arcade Fire announces European tour dates.

  • Motorhead discussion in a cubicle--it really happened!

The best thing about working at MPR, hands down, are my colleagues. They're smart, they're dedicated, and some of them are waaaay into Motorhead.

I don't know how Lemmy would feel about having three office drones discussing Motorhead in a cubicle. I'd like to think he would give us a big, crusty hug. (I've never met Lemmy in person, but I'm almost positive he would smell of cigarettes and body odor, and that I still would appreciate the hug.)

Here's how the conversation started: David Safar, The Current's assistant music director, recently tacked up a 2007 punk rock calendar in his cubicle. I noticed it and said, "Cool!" That made Barb Abney, The Current's weekday host, 9 a.m.-noon, stop by and say her son has the same calendar. And then I did my imitation of Lemmy performing at First Ave, where he boosts his mic stand about a foot over his head, tilts the mic down to his face and then spends the entire set screaming up to the mic.

Then somehow this devolved into a conversation about neon-lettered, metalhead t-shirts that wouldn't be appropriate to wear to work--Barb's was an old Ozzy t-shirt, and mine was from L7. It wouldn't be appropriate to discuss here why they were inappropriate.

What do you think about Motorhead? What's the band you would be most surprised to discuss in the workplace? What's the best cubicle discussion about music you've had at work? And no, I don't want to hear about anything inappropriate.
