You may recall a whole raft of new technologies this year that were designed to help you remember that one song, from the hum-it-into-a-microphone to the tap-it-out-on-your-space-bar. Memory aids are great, but we'd rather forget how we're all getting one year closer to the grave.

Then there were the whosie-whatsits online that were fun to play with, but served no clear purpose beyond burning up long hours in the cubicle.

So in the end, the best rock 'n' roll technology is same as it ever was—the old fashioned electric guitar, updated to celebrate one of our favorite guitar heroes.
