Strategies For Retirement

The geezers are getting cranky: Led Zeppelin, the Doors, and the Grateful Dead are suing a website called Wolfgang's Vault. (Actually, to be more accurate but slightly cynical about it, the surviving members of those bands, and an army of lawyers, are suing the Vault.)

The site is selling memorabilia from the estate of legendary San Fran rock promoter Bill Graham. The bands are claiming that the sale of this junk infringes on their right to profit from their own images, recordings, merchandise, and... well, junk.

If the resale of this sort of material is illegal, it'll be a bitter pill to swallow to the nation's used record stores, who have been picking the pockets of super-rich, oversexed rock stars for decades.

More important, does this mean the garage sale circuit will finally be relieved of all those unwanted copies of "Brothers in Arms" and "Thriller"?
