Most musicians today feel torn between two opposing worlds: their record label homepages and their MySpace pages. Some respond by kinda just ignoring both worlds. Like our man Dan Wilson, late of Trip Shakespeare and Semisonic. We'd been wondering out loud for the past couple of weeks: What's our favorite pop prolific been up to lately?

We can now report that we've successfully harassed Dan Wilson into updating his blog, and opening his door to the web. Dan blogs:

I've been trying not to call this a blog because when I call it a blog I'm then obliged to update it. A friend of mine called it "your blog-thing" which seems better.

Now however several other friends and acquaintances of mine have told me that the Current (89.3) have announced that my blog needs updating. At least they should call it "his blog-thing".

What Dan's been doing besides responding to friendly harrassment... after the jump.

Just finished tracking a new The New Standards album that I'm producing. That was damn fun and they sound great. "American Band" by Grand Funk Railroad the high point for me. Go on YouTube and watch the video for "American Band" if you don't know the song. You will laugh with joy. Men should be men, I don't know when I decided I should carry a purse and be sensitive and write songs, but watching those guys peel out on their Harleys was very instructive.

Be looking for a new Harley driving Dan next year.

But of course Dan could have just emailed us directly and we'd have taken care of the particulars-- you know, all that button pushing we get paid to do out here in the mosh pit.

Still, we feel your pain, Dan. This blog-thing is not for the squeemish--nor those who are otherwise occupied with more important work.

  • Also this: Dan appears with the New Standards this Saturday at Guest Sessions.
