OK, so it's time to introduce a cool new Wednesday feature: Your MySpace Vital Statistics.

According to our crack team of keypunching busybodies, here are some salient facts that you ought to know about.

There are more than 3,000 bands from Minnesota that have homepages at MySpace. (Some, like Marty Zellar for example, have been involuntarily represented by third parties.)

The most played Minnesota MySpace band? Motion City Soundtrack, with more than 12 million plays and 350,000 friends!

By the way, if anyone has ever heard of any of these bands other than the last one there, please give us the 411 at your earliest convenience. (We were late on this whole MySpace thing. Yes, we are lame.)

And please note the aptly named Bubblemath, who have relatively few plays but a huge number of friends. Either they're supernice guys who can't play their instruments, or Quietdrive rocks so hard that they make enemies of their friends. (Actually we like Bubblemath best, after a quick listen.)
