Apparently Guns 'N' Roses bass player Tommy Stinson found Axl's behavior intolerable too, and said so in front of God, the audience, and everyone else.
Read all about it, after the jump...
Today, Hughes told NME a somewhat less sugar-coated version of the events leading to the band's sudden unemployment, and the boss man's erratic and belligerent behavior:
"He had a couple of fans thrown out for pissing him off. Then when he called us The Pigeons Of S— Metal, Tommy Stinson, their bass player took his bass off and goes: 'F— you, that's it'. And then he threw his bass down. But then Axl picked up his bass and ... threw it at him dude. It was a .... circus up there."
Apparently, Stinson stayed aboard and continued trying to talk sense into the boss, whose arrogance--frankly-- rests squarely on some pretty sorry looking 20-year old laurels.
"By the end of the night that guy [Rose]had caused a giant uproar," said Hughes. "It was like a total mutiny on the part of his band and everyone. I could hear screaming in the dressing room, 'Those are our friends and you've insulted our friends'. Then at 4am in the morning our tour manager gets a phone call which essentially amounted to: 'Axl's thought about it, he thought you guys were a band getting shoved on his tour from the label. He's really sorry and you're more than welcome to finish the tour'.This sordid story has pretty much the ending you'd expect. Hughes responded by suggesting that Rose , um, perform an anatomically impossible act on himself. (That's the phrase, right?)
We'll see if we can get Tommy's side of the story, so stay tuned...

FAKE. Jeez guys do research. Hughes comments were a blatant lie. Eagles of Death Metal just got punked by the internet and are pretty much a laughingstock now cuz this has been pointed out in various forums all day. A number of reviews mention Tommy throwing his bass - at the SOUND GUY, because he was pissed about sound. This was posted all over the net long before Hughes gave this interview, so it's really funny to see him trying to spin it like this. Bootlegs show that the bass-throwing had NOTHING to do with Eagles of Death Metal. These guys could have taken the high road - after all, one expects Axl Rose to be a prick - now they merely come off lying idiots trying to get press.
