  • The Brits, obsessed with U2/Green Day collab, finally figure out the whole New Orleans Saints thing. "Dixieland jazz" may eventually be discovered.

  • Coolest homemade music video ever by a Norwegian who can't play an instrument.

  • Why Billy Bragg, our favorite socialist, took his page off of MySpace.

  • Life for Sean Lennon is a lot harder than you think. (But still not that hard.)

  • Paul Weller is finally coming back to the States! Paul Weller!

  • Advance listening: P.J. Harvey's Peel Sessions.

Most musicians today feel torn between two opposing worlds: their record label homepages and their MySpace pages. Some respond by kinda just ignoring both worlds. Like our man Dan Wilson, late of Trip Shakespeare and Semisonic. We'd been wondering out loud for the past couple of weeks: What's our favorite pop prolific been up to lately?

We can now report that we've successfully harassed Dan Wilson into updating his blog, and opening his door to the web. Dan blogs:

I've been trying not to call this a blog because when I call it a blog I'm then obliged to update it. A friend of mine called it "your blog-thing" which seems better.

Now however several other friends and acquaintances of mine have told me that the Current (89.3) have announced that my blog needs updating. At least they should call it "his blog-thing".

What Dan's been doing besides responding to friendly harrassment... after the jump.

    It's Honeydogs Day!

Because your brain is so healthy and... well, big, you know that your "amygdala" is a small lobe in the brain that is responsible for memories of fear and pleasure. This is also colloquially referred to as "the reptilian brain," most memorably celebrated in rock 'n' roll by the Strokes in their song "Reptilia."

It also happens to be the name of the fabulous new Honeydogs album. Which reminds us: We need to take a moment here to communicate a number of valuable data points to be entered into your brain's pleasure center:

First, the Honeydogs will be hosting a CD release party this Friday at First Avenue. Second, you can hear them speaking to Kerri Miller on MPR's midmorning here. Third, you can download a new Honeydogs tune here. (The Current's download of the week!)

And finally, if you didn't happen to be listening to 89.3 this afternoon, you missed Steve Seel's highly instructional interview and in-studio with the band, where we learned, among other things, what singer songwriter Adam Levy's biggest fear was as a child:

"I had a pathological fear of toilets overflowing."

Of all the crazy, demented, unexplainable phobias, we think that's a pretty normal one. Then again, what do we know? We're afraid of cooked pineapple, junebugs, and violin jazz.
