  • Tour debut from hell: Flaming Lips get ripped off, fan has a seizure.

  • Jon Bream sends his dinner back: not enough heat from the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

  • Say it ain't so: Rainer Maria breaking up. On the upside, a great band name will soon be available.

  • Fast relief for temporary setback: New Low album due next spring.

  • New York club scene: Rumors of death greatly exaggerated.

  • Mock the Vote?

Posted at 3:00 PM on November 7, 2006 by Hans Eisenbeis (1 Comments)

Gerard Cosloy, the celebrated contrararian at the head of Matador Records, used to argue that people ought to be encouraged not to vote, given the uninterrupted string of bums that have held elective office. (That was his reasoning anyway. We don't agree one way or the other; we're completely neutral!)

But it's telling that his "Stop the Vote" campaign is now officially described as "defunct (but highly successful)" and no longer lives on the web. Cosloy has been occupying himself with a newish blog dedicated mostly to athletic entertainments. Today, though, the old curmudgeon still finds a way to make us all think twice about our sacred democratic duty.

And just to clear your palate and provide some balance, don't forget to stop by and see what Ted Nugent is up to today, on the other radical fringe.
