As you know, we love love LURVE the big beat sound of Sweden's mysterious "Teddybears." But ever since they released their debut album, we were bugged. There was something vaguely familiar about them. Today, we realized what it was: The Teddy Bears was a young Phil Spector's first band. And his very first recording with that band was a number-one hit in 1958: "To Know Him Is to Love Him" (a kinda creepy song, actually, about the suicide of his father).

What came in the years afterward is a matter of intense debate, of course. But we're gonna try not let that spoil our delight with the new guys, who are the best thing out of Sweden since... wait for it... The Hives.

Stay tuned for our next episode, where we discuss why the Red Hot Peppers should rise from the grave and eat the brains of the the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Or at least sue them into a restful silence.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed this. I was expecting tender symphonies akin to the kind that populate most of "Back to Mono"...boy, was I surprised! And come on, Hans: what about the Caesars??
