They're glammy, they're from San Francisco, their singer is Russian. At their official website, Persephone's Bees stick to sober realities, like the fact that Punk Rock and New Wave are what actually won the Cold War.
"Angelina Moysov while growing up in Russia was influenced by her mother who loved Russian Folk and Gypsy music, as well as her brother’s collection of British and American music and the underground Russian punk and New Wave that helped Russian youth through hard times."

I bought their album, "Notes From The Underworld" because I heard the outstanding song, "Home" during the end credits for (I think) a Six Feet Under episode. Actually, I had to pre-order it from Amazon, and waited something like six months before I finally got the CD. Unfortunately, the rest of the songs on the album are completely different in tone and quality from "Home;" I suspect they had one great song that they shopped around the studios, and when it got picked up, they built a rather shaky album around it. Still, "Home" is an awesome friggin tune...
I have the good fortune to be friends with Tom and Angelina (guitarist and singer) since 2000. They are wonderful people and spectacular musicians. I hope they strike it big, and I believe that anyone would find their songs both enjoyable listening and great in content.
...this is just another
copy of "homemade" musicians trying to Be...
