  • What Is The Sound of Michael Stipe Not Singing?

R.E.M. was inducted into Georgia's version of the RNR hall of fame last weekend. IN celebration of which fact the original lineup (previously retired Bill Berry on drums) reunited for a downhome downscale hoedown. And someone bootlegged this video of the event. The song? "End of the World." Notable not only for the traffic pylons and the feedcaps onstage, but for this: Michael Stipe sure is bald. Maybe the baldest man ever.

  • Also this: "Reckoning" is one of our top five favorite records all-time. Confirm or deny in the comments.

  • Beat Box Vs. Drums

Being the modest and stoic fellow that he is, Chuck Olsen did not alert us to this, his awesome MNStories video of Hieruspecs. What's nifty and fascinating about this clip is that it's a dueling drum solo--between Hieruspecs' drummer Peter Leggett (or is that Twinky Jiggles?) and human beatbox Muad'Dib. While the Big Dibber can't quite mimick a roll on the snare, he sure is light and quick on the high-hat. And what's with the alien/cat/zombie eyes? Simultaenously creepy and cool, like so many other Minnesota stories.
