Meet The New Boss, Same As The Old Boss?

City Pages—the Minneapolis alt-weekly that has produced such great heavyweights in the world of rock journalism as Will Hermes, Jim Walsh, Dylan Hicks, Jim Meyer, Laura Sinagra, Jon Dolan, Melissa Maerz, Lyndsey Thomas, Marty Keller, among many others—has just named a new music editor. She is Sarah Askari. And since Askari is a beloved friend and colleague of ours, she gave us the following exclusive quote that we're sure would never form the basis of her first column in her new position. Sarah sez:

"My vision for the music section is built on the observation that "sound" is totally over. Party photos are the music of youth culture. It's not about the elitism of a few talented musicians anymore- it's about snapshots of anonymous limbs in a darkened club, asymetrical bangs falling down over drunken bedroom eyes- a picture of Leigh Lezark is the new "Sgt. Pepper's." In ten years, the iPod won't even play music; it will just be a photo album, and that is 100% true information I have from a source deep within Apple computers. My extensive network of fabricated sources is one of the strengths I bring to this job."

We can assure you: She's absolutely serious.
