Hard-Working Rock Critic Mashup No. 3: The Return of Greg Norton Edition!

Posted at 12:44 PM on August 16, 2006 by Hans Eisenbeis

We keep forgetting to mention the notable return of Hüsker Dü bassist Greg Norton, who has for the past decade or so, been running a restaurant in rural Wisconsin. Maybe the idyllic life had him bored to tears. Two weeks ago, he made his triumphant return to the rock'n'roll limelight… well, kind of. His new project is called the Gang Font and includes members of punkie jazz trio Happy Apple. Over at How Was the Show, Ilya Ratner got out her sharpest pencil for this challenging write-up. “The music was unlike anything else. It was King Krimson, Captain Beefheart and Wagner with syncopation that would give Stravinsky [erm, a high state of arousal--Editor].” Another attendant described it like this: ““I don’t like it. I don’t dislike it. All I know is that I’m confused.”
