Discover magazine would like to tell you 20 things you didn't already know about death. Number 0ne? The practice of burying the dead apparently dates back 350,000 years. Scientists have radio-carbon-dated an Iron Maiden T-Shirt dating to the Mesozoic Period.

Band of Horses have announced their fall tour dates, and they'll be launching their autumnal road-trip in Minneapolis next week. Head horseman Ben Bidwell recently described the fine line between feeling keen and fealing Keane, when it comes to pre-show preparations:
I like to have a little bit of weed, not too much, you don't wanna get too nervous. You really save the heavy weed smoking for after the show. Definitely some beers, don't wanna be too sober onstage but don't want be too drunk; it's kind of a perfect balance of all those things, [creating] that fake confidence to get up there and do it.
We'd love to get our hands on the Rock Star Employees Manual to see what other allowances are made for hazardous working conditions.
