Music videos never really became the art-form that grumpy idealists hoped, but they were always an awesome way to market a band—a four minute commercial that communicated the look and sound better than any magazine story or newspaper review. Now, YouTube is in discussions with the music industry to host every music video ever recorded. We thought they were already doing that. Our dirty little secret: one of the best ways to expose yourself to a new band is to search the website for video. Also, MySpace has awesome music offerings. You'll just need to sketch out a handful of excuses when your spouse wants to know why you spend so much time on a website for teenaged girls, owned by Rupert Murdoch.

We keep forgetting to mention the notable return of Hüsker Dü bassist Greg Norton, who has for the past decade or so, been running a restaurant in rural Wisconsin. Maybe the idyllic life had him bored to tears. Two weeks ago, he made his triumphant return to the rock'n'roll limelight... well, kind of. His new project is called the Gang Font and includes members of punkie jazz trio Happy Apple. Over at How Was the Show, Ilya Ratner got out her his sharpest pencil for this challenging write-up. "The music was unlike anything else. It was King Krimson, Captain Beefheart and Wagner with syncopation that would give Stravinsky [erm, a high state of arousal--Editor]." Another attendant described it like this: "I don't like it. I don't dislike it. All I know is that I'm confused."
