Hip On A Stick

A million music festivals have bloomed across the land, but the real predecessor is not really Lollapalooza, the Gathering of Tribes, or even Woodstock. It's the State Fair. Today over at the Star Tribune, Jon Bream notes that one particular offering at the Minnesota State Fair, "may be the hippest bill in the 45-year history of Grandstand concerts." That would be tomorrow's show featuring Sonic Youth, the Flaming Lips, and the Magic Numbers. While that's a pretty top-notch show, we feel that nothing can eclipse Kansas and Steve "Wild and Crazy Guy" Martin back in '79. Discuss your favorite State Fair surprises in the comments.
