This morning on NPR Kenneth Turan described the opening of "Up" as being something you will remember for the rest of your life. Being the bloody-minded literalists we are in the MPR newsroom that immediately sparked a conversation about that couldn't possibly be true.
However, it cannot be denied that the first 10 minutes or so of "Up" are beautiful, heart-rending, and quite unexpected.
Which makes it a little hard to write about without giving it away. Let's just say that while people will remember the moment when Carl Fredricksen releases his balloons and his house lifts off for a long, long, time.
But the first 10 minutes will reside in their hearts.
