I was a little behind the curve, but I joined a huge crowd of people to see "Burn After Reading" over the weekend at the Riverview Theater.
I found myself wondering if anyone else there kind of, sort of wondered if the Coen brothers, having wrapped up shooting "A Serious Man," might slip in for a peek at the hometown audience.
The great thing about the Riverview is that on a Saturday evening it is packed, and it's packed with people who know one another. It's just a joy to sit in an audience which is crammed together and having fun. So you miss a line here and there in the laughter, the wave of goodwill carries you along.
Unless they slipped in and out quietly, the Coens were no-shows. But I like to think they were there in spirit.
