Ah, the first days of summer, bring the promise of warm evenings in the hammock, reading by the lake. A couple of new books have crossed my desk which I am really looking forward to digesting.
First of all "Everything is Cinema: the working Life of Jean-Luc Goddard" by Richard Brody of the New Yorker. While Goddard's name has faded from the mainstream film conversation in recent years, his influence is undeniable.
The other is the new book from Eleanor Coppola "Notes on a Life." After skillfully chronicling the craziness around her husband's "Apocalypse Now" both on the page and on film, now she is back with another set of memories apparently stretching from the 80's to 2005.
