Reading on the road

A trip is often a good time to catch up on reading. I had hoped to be bringing the Mark Harris book "Pictures at the Revolution," but my mail-ordered copy didn't arrive in time.
Instead I have been enjoying Macalester prof Don Lee's book "Wrack and Ruin" a comedy set in a small town on the Californian coast. It's a complicated romp, but one of the characters is a failed investment banker who is trying to make a comeback as a film producer, remaking Hong Kong kung fu hits in English.
Lee has a great eye for the surface absurdities of the film business and the more troubling deeper currents too.
