Watching the trailers before a movie recently I suddenly felt very old. Preview after preview came by and I just wasn't hugely interested in any of them.

The reason? There was no mystery to them. I don't need to see them because I feel I know exactly what was going to happen in every single one.

Now I know I have seen a fair number of movies in my time, and I also know I passed out fo the demographic most treasured by the big studios years ago. Yet still I am looking for a bone or something in a trailer to make it at least a possibility that I would consider going to see a flick.

The thing that really inspired this rant is the trailer for "Never Back Down" which I have now been subjected to at least three times. How many times can they remake "The Karate Kid?" I was just waiting for Ralph Macchio to step forward to offer advice to the ultimate fighters featured in the trailer.

Now strangely enough there is a similar movie which offers a great deal more simply be cause of who wrote it: David Mamet's "Redbelt."
