After watching "Charlie Wilson's War" last night, a Philip Seymour Hoffman film masquerading as a Tom Hanks/Julia Roberts vehicle, a possibility struck me. The film's based on a true story about how one US Representative brought a bout a huge increase in the budget for covert supplies to Afghans fighting the Russians during the occupation in the 1980's.
It's dryly amusing like much of Hank's work in recent years.
But, what would it be like to run this film with "The Kite Runner" and "The Road to Guantanamo?" These are three very different views of the situation in Afghanistan, and seeing them together could create some interesting discussions and maybe even synergy.
Any other suggestions?
