A Waters-y weekend perhaps?

Posted at 4:01 PM on October 12, 2007 by Euan Kerr

This weekend is cranking up to be a biggy, what with all the fine flicks opening at the multiplexes, (Queen Elizabeth, Jesse James, George Clooney, it's all there....)

There are some pretty good ones at the small theaters in Minnesota too.

We have "The Devil Came on Horseback" opening at the Bell, "Bill's Big Pumpkins" at the Oak for a couple of nights before they launch into their Antonioni retrospective, and Colin Covert in the Strib mentions a five week Film Noir series about to launch at the Parkway, although I haven't been able to verify that. The Parkway is showing the new Guy Maddin movie "Brand on the Brain."

Me? I am going to be watching a relatively new John Waters film "John Waters: This Filthy World." It's his one-man show which he's going to perform in early November at the Fitzgerald Theater for the Current's Fakebook series. The show is quite rude and it won't be broadcast, but his chat with Mary Lucia will make the airwaves at a late date.

It's just a good excuse to present this little piece of Waters nostalgia.
