Insomnia

Posted at 7:18 PM on September 27, 2007 by Euan Kerr (3 Comments)

I couldn't sleep last night and made things worse by grabbing my copy of "Never Coming to a Theater Near You: a celebration of a certain kind of movie" by Kenneth Turan. It's Turan's collection of overlooked quality movies which is supposed to give a reader fodder for their DVD rental list.

I had hoped that it might lull me off to sleep again, but it did the opposite. I added about a dozen films to my 'must-see' category. What was worse was reading about films I have seen and then trying to remember the specific scenes he was talking about.

Tonight the book stays far from the bed.

I had just about forgotten the insomnia today when this arrived....

I really like this book, but detest the title. Almost all of these films have come to a theatre near you if you live anywhere near the Twin Cities!

I would agree. It's also a little hard to remember!

His other book, on blockbusters that are actually pretty good, is also very much worth your time. I put both of them to good use when playing with my Netflix queue.
