What have the Zodiac Killer, the Drew Carey Show and the U of M rowing team in common? Well, Minneapolis actor John Carroll Lynch of course.
Lynch whose acting credits also include "Gothika" and "Close to Home" has co-written a screenplay called "Remember Minnesota" about the 1987 U of M men's rowing team, which overcame long odds to make it to the national championships. He'll be in town tonight for a reading at the Ritz Theater in NE Minneapolis.
The reading is part of the Screenwriters Workshop series, and is open to the public.
Lynch learned the story from his friend (and financial advisor,) Brad Melby who was involved in the team. Melby is also involved in the film.
Lynch describes the project thus: “It’s Minnesota’s answer to films like “Rocky” or “Chariots of Fire.”
