It's numbingly cold and I have a pile of DVD's to get through for work and for pleasure this weekend, ("Idiocracy!") so I doubt I'll be heading to the picture palace in the next few days.
However I also realize I will likely go trawling through the papers to scout the possibilities. It's a ritual, both fun and frustrating, to see if I can fit together the jigsaw of screenings, social engagements, children, the weekly trip to the store, and the other responsibilities and detritus of the weekend.
Usually I fail, but it's always better to live in hope. And there's even something to be gained in that failure, because it raises the possibility of success in the future. It's the process that is important, the examination and ordering of what is and is not important on a given weekend.
It's an affirmation of life through the movie schedule. And if I'm lucky the final jigsaw ends up with a visit to the pictures.
(And now I come to think of it, it's the Superbowl on Sunday night, so the theaters will be empty. Now there's a thought......)
