A couple of calendar items which may be of interest
IFP MN (as Independant Feature Project North is now known) will hold a film and fun night in Duluth on Friday December 1st. The evening starts with a couple of sessions on applying for the McKnight Screenwriting and Filmmaking fellowships. followed by one of IFP MN's famous Cinema Lounges where they screen the best of local indie film-making. The event (which is free) will be at the Play Ground Theater in the Technology Village on East Superior Street.
From 6-7 there a session on how to apply for the screenwriting fellowship, from 7-8 its the filmmaking fellowship and then from 9-9.30 it's film time. The event wraps up with an after-party at Pizza Luce. This event is being put together at the last minute so the best way to get more info from IFP MN is to call 651-644-1912 or firstname.lastname@example.org. (And if you are really keen you can also enter the Play Ground's Short Shorts Film Festival.
Dance Films: Public radio arts reporters tend to be opinionated people, but there does seem to be general agreement that there are few things harder to do than a dance piece.
Lucily for us there is film which works very well for dance. Body Cartography will screen and evening of dance film at Rogue Buddha Gallery in Minneapolis on Sunday December 10th.
The screenings will include the work of Meg Stuart, Pierre Coulibeuf, Rachel Davies, Carolyn Pavlik, Miranda Pennell, Becky Edmunds, Antonin De Bemels, DV8, Anarchic Dance, Leslie Sieters, Andrew Wass and others. Details at the Body Cartography site. I particularly like the guy from Anarchic Dance.
