Just some fun stuff I have run across on my travels:
--- The Independent newspaper reports today that French director/producer Luc "The Fifth Element" Besson says that his current film "Arthur and the Minimoys," which may well be called "Arthur and the Invisibles" in the US, will be his last. Instead he says he is going to work on civic projects to improve the world. The first will be to start a foundation to help young people in France's depressed inner cities.
--- The folks behind "Seachd" were a little worried to find out that when they began shooting on Skye this year they were following hard on the heels of the crew shooting the Neil Gaiman-penned "Stardust" with Claire Danes, Michelle Pfeiffer, Sienna Miller, and Robert De Niro. Apparently it was quite noticeable that the films budgets differed by a factor of quite a bit more than ten. But apparently everyone got their work done. Stardust is due to open next year.
--- And if you want just a great read have a look at Guardian film critic John Patterson's article on the fate of cult hit "Office Space" director Mike Judge's new film "Idiocracy."
