WALKER NEWS: My pal Rachel Joyce over at the Walker points out there's a lot more information now on the Walker website about the Heroic Grace event.
Even more exciting is that the one and only Isabella Rossellini will be the first Regis Lecture of the new season. She will appear in person on Saturday November 4th. That will be followed by a retrospective of many of her movies in the following weeks. The event is happening now to mark the 20th anniversary of the release of "Blue Velvet." (I still get the delicious creeps thinking about that film.)
WILD RIVER FESTIVAL: One of the movies which looks really interesting at the Wild River Music Comedy Film Festival is "Glen Tilbook:One for the Road" which details how one of the founders of the seminal British pop band Squeeze now makes a living touring in an RV around the US. Film maker Amy Pickard is coming to introduce the film and she sounds like a gas. To quote from an e-mail she sent:
"I met Glenn in Ohio where I ran a local cable access music video show (think Wayne's World) in 1991. This interview is included in the special features of the DVD! I had Squeeze posters on my bedroom wall and was a huge fan. Glenn politely refers to me as a "committed" Squeeze fan, but I think he’s far too polite to say ‘stalker’. I prefer the term 'new wave barnacle'. Anyhoozle, they befriended me and we became pals. All these years later, I made a movie, my first movie ever, about Glenn."
