Sitting in a local cinematic emporium recently I found myself daydreaming as I watched the stream of advertising slides, interspersed with Hollywood trivia. It was about time for the movie to start and I settled down as the lights began that wondrous fade which always bring such comfort.
Suddenly there was a loud bang from the back of the room, followed quickly by a very loud single word expletive. The warm fade reversed and it gradually got light again.
The sound had clearly come from the projection box. There was someone jumping around in there, clearly in some pain, as someone else laughed.
There were a few more thumps as various pieces of equipment were reset, and then the lights faded again.
Clearly it was training day at the old theater. Clearly someone forgot the bit about closing the projection box window before you swear.
