Minnesota Public Radio's Jon Gordon produced a great little piece on the "Snakes on a Plane" hype on his Future Tense show this morning. It's interesting to hear the theory that the folk behind the web-frenzy on this film opening this weekend actually hope it will be a stinker. They feel it will add to the mystique. Traditionalists will observe the film has not been available to critics before opening, which is usually an indication of anticipated odor.

We have a couple of movie stars coming to town in the next few days.
Chris Tucker plays the Orpheum Theater in Minneapolis on Sunday. He's a man some people love to hate, but who I must admit I quite enjoy ("The 5th Element" in particular.)
Meanwhile Lassie (that would be the latest Lassie) is coming to town on Monday and Tuesday to do appearances and to shill for a boutique brand of dog chow. We media types got an e-mail asking if we would like an interview. Here at MPR the message went to the head of the Classical Music Service.
That is a set-up for so many jokes from all directions, but I am restraining myself.
