Watersorb revisited

A few months ago I wrote about watersorb crystals (post 1 and post 2.)
I decided to write a follow-up: They work. My container plants need to be watered around 2 days a week, which is a huge improvement over coming home from work everyday and seeing all of the plants drooping when they has been watered early morning. I now have the reverse problem of letting the soil dry out completely before feeling the urge to water them again. I guess that I was trained to give the container plants so much attention that I don't know how to keep my hands out of the process.

I have 7 dwarf citrus trees growing in 20 gallon containers. Two of the trees have watersorb mixed in the potting soil, the other 5 do not. The difference is noticeable, the 2 with watersorb usually do not get stressed by more infrequent watering and they withstand heatwaves better. I'm convinced that it's the best way to garden in containers. However, on occasion I've used too many crystals in a smaller container and had problems with waterlogging. It's best to follow the manufacturer's directions. Happy gardening!
