Facebook has changed the world as we know it.

Not only is the site massively popular (Facebook reached 250 million users recently), but it's become a global address book, photo album and bathroom wall all rolled into one. But according to Ben Mezrich's new book, The Accidental Billionaires, Facebook started out as something much simpler - a way to get chicks.

Mezrich's book comes with a side controversy over how true to the tale it is. But it also has some neat details of how a brilliant idea turned into a billion dollar company.

In The Loop talked to Mezrich about the book, the controversy and the genesis of Facebook.
