We've been asking people how they keep their spirits up with all the bad news out there.
Listener Joe Latorre wrote in late last night to say that when he's feeling down, this song helps cheer him up: Chacarron, by El Mundo.
I can see how that works, Joe. This is one of the more ridiculous pieces of weirdness I have seen in quite a while. Nice suggestion!
I'm too busy today for any extra research. Anyone out there know the story behind this thing?
there was a rumor that former Twins pitcher Carlos Silva was the actual vocalist on this - the singing/mumbling part. back when he was in Venezuala. supposedly that's what Johan Santana said, at least.
Urban Dictionary has some definitions of Chacarron . . . apparently they stem from this video.
i hadn't seen that video (which is awesome) but i had seen this one that's much more baffling: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGubN9F49k8
This song also spawned one of the most popular fads on YoureTheManNowDog.com, an irreverent comedy website, starring Adam West's Batman:
