"Confessions of a CEO: Being 'ruthlessly aggressive' took Dominic Orr to the top of the corporate world. And it nearly ruined his life."
Perfect example of much of what we were talking about. In my tune for the show this time, especially, I tried to send up the "bully culture" that is so prevalent in the archetype of American business success. There is such a thin line between the right level of confidence and "can-do" ... and being a bully.
None of which is to say being a bully will keep you from succeeding iin business. As one of our guests pointed out, the same qualities that breed success (intense focus, neglecting a social life to prepare to succeed, willingness to put goals before people) can also breed bullies.
But these leaders could be even stronger if they didn't lapse into bully-dom. That's essentially what the Fortune article drives home as well.
