Show topic: Diplomacy! (and a Gather essay contest...)

flagturkey.jpgYou have brainstormed with us, and you have spoken: "Diplomacy" (or some variation on the idea) will form the basis for our November show.

Whether the setting is North Korea or your family's Thanksgiving table (hence the ridiculous image above), the delicate art of negotiation and compromise is very much on our minds these days.

As part of this next show, we have put out a call for essays on Gather.com. Check it out, and give us your best.

We're also asking some questions:

When have you taken -- or, alternately, eschewed -- the diplomatic approach to resolving a situation in your own life? What was the result?

Know any mediators, arbitrators, or other folks who serve as "diplomats" in situations that do not involve international politics?

Leave your comments here, or get in touch with us separately with your ideas.
