Mark mourns Mali master musician

When I heard the news this afternoon that Ali Farka Toure had passed away I dug out a few of his old cd's and immersed myself, it was perfect for a rainy afternoon, I got lost and lifted.
Tonight we heard a couple of tracks from his 'Source' cd of '92 and two from African Blues from '90. His music had an amazing quality of sounding totally organic, but as if it was coming from another universe too.
During the show tonight I also found out that another artist that I admired has passed away. Ivor Cutler was a strange poet from Scotland who was a fave of John Peel. So I will bring some of his very weird work with me tomorrow.
