Falling in Love With Music Do you ever hear a song and completely fall in love with it? Kind of like love at first sight, but more light love at first listen? I'm going to tell what song I have a crush on. Don't tell anyone now... OK, Tortoise and Bonnie "Prince" Billy have a new album out together called The Brave and the Bold. Basically, it's a bunch of covers... but done well for the most part. They cover Springsteen, The Minutemen and Lungfish to name a few. BUT- the song they got me with was Elton John's "Daniel". You hear it, it's familiar, but yet Tortoise and Bonnie "Prince" Billy made me love the cover of it, more than the original I think... which is rare for me. I know, it's NOT quite rock and roll.... but I like it. Posted by Jill Riley at 4:15 AM
Daniel is def the best track on that disc imo. i was looking forward to this thing for so long, but found myself feeling a bit dissapointed overall. some songs work well, but a lot of it doesn't quite work for me either. can't wait for the new Tortoise record tho! didnt we see you at Static-X and Ill Nino? You sure did "Chris and the Lady". And I must say it was an excellent show. I'll have to check that out. Thanx for the tip. And I know exactly how you feel. The second I heard the song "Clouds" on Lovehammers "Murder On My Mind" CD . . . I've been in love ever since. Of course, I'm now not just in love with that song, but the entire band - oh well, the price we pay for great music! |
