pink elefant

It's always funny when you encounter someone who lives and exists in NYC and NYC only if you know what I mean.
Elefant was in the studio today and when we gave them the standard "please don't cuss speech" Diego asked me if MN was a "Huge Mormon state"?
It's always interesting to hear what image people have of life east of Philadelphia.

so did you inform Diego that no, Minnesota isn't a "huge Mormon state", just lots of Mennonites in Northwestern MN? ;)

I refer to this place as "flyover country" when chatting up folks from either coast.

funny story here....My brother in law was born in Trinidad, lived in Queens and Brooklyn his whole life. His first time to MN he asks to be driven around the "ghetto". We take him to Frog Town, Broadway N. MPLS, and the Payne Ave. After a while he says "Where are all the "B"s hangin' at? how come there's no one hangin on the corners?" Our reply was "well it's 6 oclock, they must BBQing in their back yards. yeh, that's right "ghettos" in the TC got back yard BBQs." he was BLOWN AWAY!!! What, no rows of burned out boarded up apartment buildings? No bags of baby diapers piled up on the sidewalk? No iron bars covering every inch of glass in any given building?
Many New Yorkers I've met are sweet as can be and mostly have moved to NEW YORK to get away from their place of origin....naturally nothing else exists...why should it?
